What it does
1 generic mana, tap: Target creature gains banding until end of turn. (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding a player controls are blocking or being blocked by a creature, that player divides that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)

Where it came from
The Helm of Chatzuk was released in 1993 as part of Limited Edition Alpha, the inaugural core set of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast, the set was designed to capture the feel of classic fantasy tabletop role-playing games while introducing the novel concept of a collectible card game. The item occupies a space in the game's early history, reflecting the experimental aesthetic and varying artistic styles that defined the initial release.
The card's illustration was created by artist Anson Maddocks, whose work is highly recognizable for its distinct, often surreal, and hand-drawn aesthetic that characterized many early artifacts and creatures in the game. The design reflects the 'artifact' card type, intended to represent magical items that a player could deploy to their battlefield. While not among the most powerful competitive cards in the game's history, it remains a notable piece of the Alpha set's heritage, serving as a reminder of the foundational period when the game's mechanics and lore were being established for the first time.
