What it does
1 generic mana, tap: Target creature gains banding until end of turn. (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding a player controls are blocking or being blocked by a creature, that player divides that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)

Where it came from
The Helm of Chatzuk was introduced in the Fourth Edition core set of Magic: The Gathering, released in 1995. This set served as a retrospective compilation of cards from earlier expansions, designed to consolidate the game's rules and provide a stable foundation for the growing player base. As an artifact with a thematic focus on protecting specific creature types, it reflected the game's early interest in tribal synergies and mechanical flavor.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Quinton Hoover, a prominent figure in the game's early visual history. Hoover employed his signature expressive style to depict the helm, emphasizing a mystical and ancient quality that aligned with the high-fantasy aesthetic of the era. Upon its release, the card was received as a niche utility item, valued primarily for its specific protective capabilities rather than as a centerpiece for competitive play.
