What it does
1 generic mana, tap: Target creature gains banding until end of turn. (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding a player controls are blocking or being blocked by a creature, that player divides that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)

Where it came from
The Helm of Chatzuk was released in 1993 as part of the Unlimited Edition base set for Magic: The Gathering. As a direct reprint of the earlier Limited Edition Alpha and Beta cards, it served as part of the initial wave of artifacts designed to define the game's early mechanical identity. These cards emerged from Wizards of the Coast during the burgeoning hobbyist movement, aimed at establishing a deep, lore-heavy trading card experience.
The card's illustration was created by artist Dan Frazier, whose distinct ink-and-wash style characterized much of the original artifact roster. Frazier aimed to evoke a sense of high-fantasy relic, focusing on a singular, imposing piece of headgear that hinted at a broader, untapped mythology surrounding the character of Chatzuk. The card was received as a niche utility item, valued by players for its ability to grant protection to specific creatures, though it remains primarily recognized today as a piece of early Magic history.
