Hymn to Tourach

Hymn to Tourach was originally introduced in the 1994 Fallen Empires expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed by the game's core development team during its early period of rapid expansion, the card was intended to capture the flavor of the dark, cult-like lore surrounding the character Tourach, a villainous figure in the game's evolving narrative. Its function as a powerful discard spell made it a defining element of the 'Black' color identity in the game's formative years.

The version included in 'The List'—a rotating pool of reprints inserted into modern booster packs—features the art and card frame from the 2015 Eternal Masters set. This specific iteration sought to preserve the classic, aggressive gameplay utility of the original while updating the aesthetic to align with more contemporary design standards. It is regarded by players as a staple of older competitive formats, maintaining its legacy through consistent inclusion in curated reprint selections.
