Hymn to Tourach

Hymn to Tourach was originally introduced in the 1994 expansion Fallen Empires, serving as a powerful black discard spell that remains a staple in various formats. The version from Eternal Masters, released in 2016, was designed to bring iconic older cards to a new generation of players, providing them with a updated card frame and high-quality card stock while maintaining the functional efficiency that made the original spell a defining element of black-aligned strategy.

The artwork for this particular printing was illustrated by Christopher Rush, an artist whose contributions to the early aesthetic of Magic: The Gathering are considered foundational. His interpretation of the card seeks to capture the dark, ritualistic nature of the spell, utilizing a stark and evocative visual style that aligns with the grim lore of the Dominarian setting. Upon its release in the Eternal Masters set, this version was well received for balancing its classic identity with modern production standards.
