Where it came from
Karma was released as part of the Summer Magic set, colloquially known as Edgar, in 1994. This set was produced by Wizards of the Coast for the Philippine market as a localized printing of the Revised Edition base set. It is distinguished by its unique white-bordered design and a distinct, slightly darker color saturation compared to the standard international releases of the era.
The card features an illustration by Dan Frazier, whose work is iconic within the early aesthetic of the game. Designed as a red enchantment that punishes players for dealing damage, the card reflects the experimental mechanics characteristic of Magic's early development. While the Edgar set was initially intended for a limited regional audience, it has since become a significant piece of history for collectors due to its rarity and specific printing origin.
