What it does

Flying; banding (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)

Before a woman marries in the village of Sursi, she must visit the land of the Mesa Pegasus. Legend has it that if the woman is pure of heart and her love is true, a Mesa Pegasus will appear, blessing her family with long life and good fortune.

Provenance

Where it came from

The Mesa Pegasus card was released as part of the Rivals Quick Start Set for the Magi-Nation Duel trading card game. Developed by Interactive Imaginations and launched in 2000, the game drew inspiration from the Game Boy Color title Magi-Nation. The set was designed as an accessible entry point for new players, featuring simplified mechanics and iconic creatures from the game's lore to introduce the unique resource system based on elemental regions.

The illustration for the Mesa Pegasus reflects the vibrant, whimsical aesthetic characteristic of the early 2000s fantasy card game boom. The design captures the creature's connection to the arid, plateau-heavy landscapes of the game's setting, emphasizing a blend of mythological imagery and the specific art style commissioned for the Moonlands realm. While the card is a standard utility piece within the context of the game, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for early adopters of the Magi-Nation series.
