What it does
Flying; banding (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)
Before a woman marries in the village of Sursi, she must visit the land of the Mesa Pegasus. Legend has it that if the woman is pure of heart and her love is true, a Mesa Pegasus will appear, blessing her family with long life and good fortune.

Where it came from
Mesa Pegasus was first printed in the Limited Edition Alpha set in 1993, representing the early aesthetic of Magic: The Gathering. As a white creature card featuring the banding mechanic, it was designed to emphasize the defensive and collaborative themes central to the white color identity during the game's nascent stage. The artwork, illustrated by Dan Frazier, depicts the creature in a classical, high-fantasy style consistent with the illustrative traditions of early nineties hobby gaming.
The Fourth Edition release, which included this card as number 35, arrived in 1995 as a foundational core set intended to stabilize the game's rules and card pool. While the card is a common-rarity staple of early Magic history rather than a tournament powerhouse, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of the 1990s era. Its presence in the Fourth Edition solidified its role as a representative of the game's formative period, balancing utility in casual play with the distinct, textured art style that defined the early years of Wizards of the Coast.
