Power Sink

Power Sink was originally introduced in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering in 1993, designed by Richard Garfield as a counter-magic spell that required players to make strategic decisions about their remaining mana resources. The Tempest iteration, released in 1997, features a distinct aesthetic shift that mirrors the set's high-fantasy, swashbuckling tone, moving away from the more minimalist early card designs toward more complex, illustrative art directed by the Wizards of the Coast team.

The artwork for this specific card was illustrated by Donato Giancola, whose contribution to the Tempest set helped define the visual identity of the era.
