Selesnya Sanctuary

Selesnya Sanctuary is a land card first introduced in the Ravnica: City of Guilds set in 2005. It represents the Selesnya Conclave, one of the ten distinct guilds that govern the cityscape of Ravnica. Designed as part of a cycle of bouncelands, the card mechanically requires players to return a land to their hand upon entry, a trade-off that provides access to two colors of mana while offering long-term utility in resource management. This specific version was featured in the 2016 Planechase Anthology, a curated collection designed to bring together cards from previous Planechase releases to facilitate the format's unique multiplayer planar travel mechanics.

The art for this iteration was created by Dan Dos Santos, who aimed to capture the lush, architectural harmony of the Selesnya guild. His work emphasizes the integration of nature and civilization, depicting the sanctuary as a vibrant, overgrown space that feels both fortified and organic. The design was well-received by the player base for its evocative portrayal of the guild's philosophy, which values communal strength and the preservation of the natural world amidst an urban sprawl.
