Spirit

The Spirit token, numbered 22 in the Commander 2015 set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in November 2015. Tokens of this era were designed to accompany specific preconstructed Commander decks, serving as physical representations of ephemeral creatures summoned during gameplay. This particular token was included to support cards like 'Daxos the Returned,' a commander centered on the experience-counter mechanic and the creation of enchantment creature tokens.

The illustration was created by Cliff Childs, a prolific artist who has contributed a wide array of conceptual and finished work to the Magic: The Gathering franchise. Childs employed his characteristic style to capture the ethereal, ghostly nature of the Spirit, opting for a design that conveys a sense of weightlessness and supernatural presence. The artwork was well-received by the player community for its cohesive aesthetic, which helped reinforce the thematic identity of the 'Plunder the Graves' and 'Call the Spirits' decks released that year.
