Saproling

The Saproling token, featured as part of the Commander 2015 set, serves as a functional accompaniment to the 'Plunder the Graves' preconstructed deck. In the broader context of Magic: The Gathering, Saproling tokens are iconic representations of fungal life, typically generated by cards that create symbiotic or sacrificial synergies. This specific iteration was designed to provide players with a tactile and thematic representation of their board state during high-stakes multiplayer Commander games.

The art for this token follows the established aesthetic of the 2015 Commander release, which prioritized clarity and distinct visual cues to ensure ease of play in busy battlefield environments. While these tokens are considered utility components rather than primary collectibles, they reflect the collaborative design process at Wizards of the Coast, where illustrators are tasked with maintaining visual continuity across the diverse array of creatures inhabiting the game's multiverse.
