Treasure Cruise

Treasure Cruise first appeared in the Khans of Tarkir expansion in 2014, designed by Wizards of the Coast to feature the 'delve' mechanic, which allows players to exile cards from their graveyard to reduce the mana cost of a spell. The artwork, illustrated by Kev Walker, depicts a vast, mystical sea vessel navigating through a swirling, ethereal environment, capturing the sense of discovery and immense power that the card provides in gameplay. It was created to provide a high-value card advantage engine, reflecting the set's thematic focus on the shifting timelines and powerful warlords of the Tarkir plane.

The Commander 2021 reprint of Treasure Cruise, numbered 133, maintains the mechanical function of the original while situating it within the preconstructed deck ecosystems of the Commander format. Because the card is exceptionally potent in formats with large graveyards, it has remained a staple in various deck builds since its debut. The design was intended to reward players for their resource management throughout a match, and its enduring popularity has solidified its status as a hallmark of blue-aligned card draw utility across multiple Magic: The Gathering product releases.
