Where it came from
Treasure Cruise was first released in the 2014 Khans of Tarkir expansion, quickly gaining notoriety for its immense efficiency in competitive formats. The card allows a player to draw three cards for a single blue mana by utilizing the delve mechanic, which exiles cards from the graveyard to reduce the casting cost. Its design reflects the flavor of scavenging through the remnants of a battlefield to gain a strategic advantage, a concept that proved so powerful it eventually necessitated restrictions or bans in formats like Legacy and Modern.
The version from the Modern Horizons 3 Commander set, collector number 195, features the updated card frame and aesthetic sensibilities consistent with contemporary Magic: The Gathering releases. While the card's mechanical identity remains tied to its original debut, these newer iterations serve to maintain accessibility for players in the Commander format, where the card’s high-velocity resource generation remains a staple for blue-aligned deck strategies.
