Wurm

The Wurm token, numbered 6 in the Magic 2012 core set, was introduced to represent the creature spawned by cards such as 'Garruk's Horde' or other spells capable of generating 6/6 Wurm tokens. As Magic: The Gathering transitioned toward more frequent use of physical tokens, these cards became essential gameplay aids, providing a clear visual reference for temporary permanents that lacked their own dedicated print runs in older editions.

The artwork for this specific token was crafted by the artist Svetlin Velinov. He sought to capture the visceral, terrestrial nature of a massive burrowing beast, utilizing earthy tones and textures to emphasize its imposing scale on the battlefield. Upon its release in 2011, the card was well-received by players for its utilitarian clarity and for maintaining the consistent aesthetic standard established by the Magic 2012 design team, cementing its place as a reliable staple for collectors and deck builders alike.
