Oltretomba Collezione #60

Oltretomba Collezione was a long-running Italian horror comic series published by Ediperiodici during the 1970s. This series emerged as part of the thriving market for 'fumetti neri,' a genre defined by dark, transgressive themes and gothic atmosphere that captivated Italian readers during the decade. Issue number 60, released during this era, serves as a quintessential example of the pocket-sized format that defined the publisher's output, prioritizing visceral storytelling and bold, stark imagery.

The visual identity of the Oltretomba series relied heavily on a house style that emphasized grotesque realism, meant to shock and entertain a readership eager for supernatural thrills. Like many issues of the time, the creative teams behind these stories often worked in obscurity, producing a high volume of work that reflected a blend of pulp fiction aesthetics and traditional horror tropes. The series remains a significant artifact for collectors of Italian horror comics, documenting the specific cultural appetite for macabre narratives that characterized the period.
