Beast

The Beast token, designated as number 5 in the Edge of Eternities Commander Tokens set, was produced by Wizards of the Coast to support the mechanics introduced in the Magic: The Gathering Commander format. Tokens in these sets serve as essential gameplay aids, providing a physical representation of creatures created by various spells and abilities during matches. The art direction for this series emphasizes the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the game's broader multiverse, designed to be visually distinct from the primary deck cards to ensure clarity on the battlefield.

The illustrative style for this token reflects the collaborative design process at Wizards of the Coast, where artists are commissioned to capture the essence of creature types that have been staples of the game since its inception. By focusing on a recognizable 'Beast' archetype, the design team aimed to provide a functional and evocative companion for players utilizing specific deck archetypes. The reception among the player base has been largely pragmatic, as these tokens are valued primarily for their utility and the cohesive visual language they maintain across the Edge of Eternities product line.
