Cat

The Cat token was introduced in the Magic 2013 core set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2012 to support the mechanical requirements of cards like Ajani, Caller of the Pride. Within the game, these tokens are not included in randomized booster packs as traditional cards, but are instead inserted into pack slots to represent temporary creatures created during gameplay. This specific iteration was designed to provide a cohesive visual identity for the white-aligned feline creatures common in the game's creature type library.

The artwork for the Magic 2013 Cat token was executed by illustrator Zoltan Boros, who aimed to capture the agile and predatory nature of the creature while maintaining the high-fantasy aesthetic signature to the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the player base for its clear, functional design, which streamlined the experience of managing multiple creature tokens on the battlefield during competitive and casual matches.
