Demonic Tutor

Demonic Tutor from the Summer Magic set, often referred to as Edgar, was produced in 1994 as a corrected print run of the Revised Edition. Intended to fix various printing errors and color inconsistencies found in the original Revised run, this edition was distributed through limited channels before the majority of the stock was intended to be destroyed. Its rarity stems from the fact that a small portion of the product bypassed destruction, making it one of the most sought-after oddities in the history of trading card games.

The card features the iconic artwork by Douglas Shuler, which was utilized across several early sets to represent the powerful ability of searching one's library for a specific card. In the context of Summer Magic, the design retains the stark, minimalist aesthetic of the early 1990s Wizards of the Coast aesthetic. While the card mechanical design is identical to its Revised counterpart, the Summer Magic version is distinguished by its unique color correction and printing characteristics, which have since become a focal point for high-end collectors and historians of the game.
