Myriad Landscape

Myriad Landscape was first introduced in the Commander 2014 set as a utility land designed to provide mana ramp to multi-player formats. Its inclusion in Commander 2016 helped solidify its status as a staple for green-less decks, as it allows any color identity to search for two basic lands at the cost of entering tapped and sacrificing the card. The design focus was on balancing the inherent tempo loss of a tapped land against the long-term benefit of thinning the deck and fixing mana bases in a four-player game.

The artwork, illustrated by Karl Kopinski, captures a sprawling, ethereal vista that emphasizes the card's function as a foundational element of a landscape. Kopinski’s style, known for its textured, painterly approach to fantasy environments, was chosen to evoke the feeling of a vast territory being cultivated for resources. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community for its versatility and accessibility, eventually becoming a common inclusion in budget-conscious Commander decks due to its reliable performance.
