Provenance

Where it came from

The Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Art Series cards were released by Wizards of the Coast in 2021 as part of a promotional initiative for the Magic: The Gathering set that brought Dungeons & Dragons mechanics into the game. These cards do not feature standard game statistics but are instead dedicated to showcasing the full-art illustrations created for the set, intended for display and collecting rather than tournament play.

The artwork for this specific Plains card reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic established for the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. The illustrators tasked with these cards focused on capturing the iconic landscapes of the Dungeons & Dragons universe, emphasizing atmosphere and exploration. Collectors generally view these pieces as commemorative mementos that honor the collaboration between two long-standing pillars of tabletop gaming.
