Provenance

Where it came from

This card belongs to the Art Series sub-set from the 2023 expansion The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, a series specifically designed to showcase the vivid, high-fantasy illustrations commissioned for the set without the standard game-text overlays. These cards were distributed exclusively within collector booster packs, serving as a premium way to highlight the visual storytelling of the plane of Ixalan, which centers on subterranean exploration, ancient civilizations, and primordial threats.

The artwork featured on this card is a signature landscape illustration, capturing the lush, geologically unique vistas that define the subterranean world of the set. Artists for the series were tasked with emphasizing the scale and atmosphere of this hidden realm, utilizing bold color palettes to distinguish the cavernous environment from traditional plains settings. These art cards are highly valued among collectors for their clean presentation, often featuring a gold-stamped foil signature of the artist on the front.
