Plains // Plains

The Plains card from the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Art Series, numbered 79, was released in 2022 as part of a specialized subset of Magic: The Gathering. These cards were designed to highlight the aesthetic beauty of the expansion's artwork, removing standard gameplay frames to present the full illustration as a collectible art print. This specific series focused on the fusion of traditional Japanese landscapes and futuristic cyberpunk elements, reflecting the set's central thematic tension between ancient spirituality and advanced technology.

The artwork for this particular Plains features the distinct digital-nature aesthetic popularized by the Neon Dynasty set. It was created to emphasize the serene, ethereal quality of the Kamigawa plane's spiritual sites even within a highly industrialized environment. Upon release, these art cards were well received by the player community for their high-quality stock and the opportunity to showcase the work of individual artists outside the constraints of traditional card layout.
