Chant Grégorien - Chants de Noël

The Chants de Noël album featuring the Chœur des Moines de l’Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes was produced during a period when the monastic tradition of Gregorian chant was gaining significant international academic and spiritual recognition. Recorded at the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes in France, this release represents the monks' ongoing commitment to preserving the authentic interpretation of plainsong, a liturgical practice they have studied and refined since the 19th century under the guidance of Dom Prosper Guéranger.

The musical direction of the Solesmes choir is renowned for its focus on the natural rhythm of the Latin text, eschewing the dramatic flourishes found in other choral traditions in favor of a meditative, fluid vocal style. Released on the IPG label, this recording serves as a quintessential example of the abbey's efforts to disseminate their scholarly approach to choral music, which has been highly regarded by musicologists and liturgical scholars for its historical fidelity and serene aesthetic.
