Change of Heart

Change of Heart was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2002 as part of the initial wave of products released for the Western market. It appeared in the Starter Deck: Yugi, which was designed to introduce new players to the mechanics of the game by featuring iconic cards used by the protagonist, Yugi Muto, in the animated series. The card art depicts a classic, stylized heart illustration, reflecting the dark and tactical nature of the spell, which allows a player to briefly take control of an opponent's monster.

The card was designed to be a potent tool for field manipulation, providing a significant strategic advantage by turning an opponent's resources against them. Upon its release, it became a staple in competitive play for years due to its versatility and ability to facilitate tribute summons or direct attacks. Its inclusion in the Yugi starter deck helped establish it as one of the most recognizable and essential cards from the early era of the game's history.
