Change of Heart

Change of Heart was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Metal Raiders booster set, released in the early 2000s as the second core expansion for the English-language market. The card functions as a powerful Normal Spell that allows a player to take control of an opponent's monster for a single turn, reflecting the thematic manipulation of the opponent's strategy often found in the source anime and manga. Its inclusion in Metal Raiders solidified its status as a staple for tactical play during the game's formative years.

The card's design features distinct, ominous artwork depicting a hand reaching toward a spectral heart, mirroring the aesthetic sensibilities of creator Kazuki Takahashi's original vision for the game's darker, more supernatural elements. As an Ultra Rare pull from the Metal Raiders set, it quickly became highly sought after by players due to its potential to swing the momentum of a duel. Its enduring legacy is marked by its complex history within the competitive scene, having spent years on the official Forbidden list before eventually being permitted for tournament use once again.
