Change of Heart

Change of Heart was originally introduced in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game as a powerful tool for shifting board control. It debuted as an Ultra Rare in the Metal Raiders set, drawing inspiration from the iconic duel between Yami Yugi and Yami Bakura in the original manga and anime series. The card mechanics, which allow a player to take control of an opponent's monster for one turn, were designed to reflect the psychological manipulation and dark magic often associated with Bakura's character.

The SKE-032 version appeared later within the Starter Deck: Kaiba Evolution, a product designed to update the core experience for fans following the release of the original Starter Deck: Kaiba. As a common rarity inclusion, it served as a functional reprint meant to improve accessibility for new players learning the game's mechanics. The art remains consistent with the original Japanese aesthetic, maintaining the classic, somewhat ominous illustration that captured the card's disruptive effect on competitive play.
