Provenance

Where it came from

Change of Heart originated as a staple card in the early Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, first appearing in the Japanese Starter Box in 1999. It was designed as a powerful control-based spell card that allowed a player to take temporary command of an opponent's monster, reflecting the game's focus on shifting battlefield advantages. The card quickly became iconic due to its tactical versatility and its prominent use in the original animated series by the character Yami Bakura.

The TYP1-EN019 version is a specific reprint released as part of the 2023 Thank You Pack. This promotional set was created by Konami to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the card game, serving as a commemorative release for loyal fans and collectors. As a common rarity reprint, it strips back the elaborate foiling of earlier chase versions to provide an accessible, nostalgic addition to the set that honors the card's enduring legacy in competitive play.
