Karplusan Forest

Karplusan Forest was originally introduced in the 1995 Ice Age set, serving as part of a cycle of pain lands that provided dual-color utility at the cost of life. The 1998 World Championship Decks version serves as a distinctive print, reproducing the card specifically as it appeared in the tournament-winning deck lists of the era. These decks were released by Wizards of the Coast to allow players to experience the exact configurations used by top-tier competitors, featuring gold-bordered backs and signature facsimile stamps to prevent their use in standard tournament play.

The artwork for this version retains the original illustration by Quinton Hoover, whose work defined much of the early aesthetic of the game. Hoover utilized a vibrant, fluid style that emphasized the mythical and untamed nature of the location, aligning with the lore of the Karplusan Forest as a harsh, mountainous region in the game's setting of Dominaria. The card was well-received by collectors and players alike for its accessibility, offering a bridge for fans to own iconic, tournament-proven cards that would otherwise be difficult to acquire as authentic game-legal versions.
