Treasure

The Treasure token, specifically collector number 21 from the March of the Machine expansion, was released by Wizards of the Coast in April 2023. As part of the climactic conclusion to the multi-year Phyrexian arc, these tokens were designed to represent the ephemeral, high-value resources generated by various cards throughout the set. They function as a mechanical staple within the game, providing a consistent visual shorthand for players managing their economic resources during gameplay.

The art direction for this token follows the set's high-fantasy, multiversal aesthetic, emphasizing the visual iconography of wealth and plunder associated with the expansion's diverse plane-spanning narrative. While Wizards of the Coast utilizes a rotating team of digital artists to create these assets, the token was crafted to be functionally clear while maintaining the thematic polish expected of modern Magic: The Gathering sets. It was received by the player base as a utilitarian collectible, valued primarily for its role in enabling complex board states during matches.
