Provenance

Where it came from

Windfall was originally printed in the 1997 Urza's Saga expansion and has since become a staple in Magic: The Gathering, specifically within the Commander format. It functions as a powerful hand-refilling spell that forces all players to discard their hands and draw cards equal to the greatest number discarded, embodying the chaotic nature of blue mana's card-advantage mechanics.

This specific iteration appears as part of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander set, released in 2023. The card features updated thematic art to suit the exploration-focused, subterranean aesthetic of the Ixalan plane. It was designed to provide players with a functional reprint of a high-impact utility card, ensuring its availability within the supplemental Commander product ecosystem.
