Moriarty the Patriot

Moriarty the Patriot, titled Yuukoku no Moriarty in Japan, is a manga series written by Ryousuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi. Debuting in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine in 2016, the series offers a subversive reimagining of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes canon. Rather than a traditional antagonist, William James Moriarty is depicted as a brilliant criminal mastermind driven by a desire to dismantle the rigid, corrupt British class structure of the late 19th century.

The artistic direction by Hikaru Miyoshi leans into a sophisticated, gothic aesthetic that emphasizes the atmosphere of Victorian London while providing distinct visual characterizations for the expanded Moriarty and Holmes families.
