Provenance

Where it came from

The Cat token, numbered 5 in the Commander Masters Tokens set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This set was specifically curated to support the Commander Masters expansion, a product line designed for the popular Magic: The Gathering Commander format. Tokens in these supplemental sets are intended to provide players with physical representations of creatures generated by various spells and abilities during gameplay.

The artwork for this token adheres to the modern design standards established for Magic: The Gathering's supplementary products, emphasizing clarity and recognizable creature types for tabletop play. As a standard utility token, it reflects the artistic direction of the broader Commander Masters release, which frequently draws upon high-fantasy aesthetics to ensure visual consistency with the powerful, reprint-focused cards featured in the set.
