Mana Short

Mana Short, originating from the 1994 Summer Magic set—often referred to by enthusiasts as the Edgar set—is a significant piece of Magic: The Gathering history. This set was produced as a corrective replacement for the flawed Revised Edition, featuring updated card text and revised artwork. However, due to a distribution error, the vast majority of the print run was destroyed, leaving only a limited quantity to reach the public, which cemented its status as one of the rarest iterations of early Magic cards.

The card features artwork by Dameon Willich, whose style defined much of the early aesthetic of the game. For this specific printing, the card underwent color correction to address the washed-out tones found in previous editions, providing a more vibrant look. While Mana Short was a functional tool in the game’s early competitive landscape for disrupting opponent mana curves, its rarity in this specific set transformed it from a mere utility card into a highly coveted artifact of collectible gaming history.
