Where it came from
Rest in Peace was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering 'Universes Beyond' set featuring Assassin's Creed. The card serves as a thematic reprint of a classic white enchantment, reimagined within the visual framework of the Ubisoft video game franchise. It is designed to mechanically represent the concept of laying ghosts or past entities to rest, fitting seamlessly into the lore of the Animus and the recurring struggle against the Cult of Kosmos or other historical adversaries.
The card features artwork that captures the aesthetic of the series, emphasizing the architectural and historical settings central to the Assassin's Creed games. While the mechanics of the card are well-established in Magic: The Gathering history, this particular iteration was developed to provide players with a functional, gameplay-relevant staple while appealing to fans of the long-running stealth-action series through its evocative illustration and thematic tie-ins.
