What it does

When this enchantment enters, exile all graveyards.

Provenance

Where it came from

Rest in Peace was originally introduced in the Return to Ravnica expansion in 2012. It was designed as a powerful sideboard tool to neutralize graveyard-based strategies, reflecting the white color identity's penchant for exile effects and anti-recursion mechanics. The card's enduring utility in formats like Modern and Legacy solidified its place as a staple of competitive play, leading to its inclusion in the 2024 Ravnica Remastered set.

The artwork for this iteration, consistent with the thematic aesthetic of the Remastered set, captures the solemn, orderly nature of the Orzhov Syndicate's influence on the plane of Ravnica. The design aesthetic emphasizes a sense of finality and spiritual containment, aligning with the card's function of permanently exiling graveyards. It remains widely recognized by players for its minimalist yet flavor-heavy approach to answering complex engine-based decks.
