Where it came from
Rest in Peace was originally introduced in the Return to Ravnica expansion in 2012, serving as a powerful mechanical tool designed to neutralize graveyard-based strategies. It functions as a global enchantment that exiles all cards in all graveyards upon entering the battlefield and prevents any cards from entering the graveyard thereafter, effectively shutting down resource loops and mechanics like dredge or reanimation.
The Enchanting Tales version, released as a bonus sheet within the 2023 Wilds of Eldraine set, reimagined the card with unique aesthetics themed around the high-fantasy, fairytale setting of Eldraine. The design work for these special variants was intended to evoke the tone of classic storybooks, utilizing ornate borders and stylized illustrations that emphasize the mystical and sometimes somber nature of the enchantment's power, meeting with appreciation from collectors who value both gameplay utility and artistic consistency.
