Rest in Peace

Rest in Peace originated as a card in The Big Score expansion, a release that sought to bridge the gap between traditional strategic card gaming and narrative-driven thematic play. Released during a period when the genre was seeing an influx of experimental mechanics, the set aimed to introduce high-stakes gameplay elements that rewarded players for tactical sacrifice. It was conceptualized to provide a definitive board-wipe effect, functioning as a reset button that would clear the field and force participants to rethink their strategy from a neutral state.

The visual identity for this card was crafted to contrast the chaotic nature of competitive play with a sense of finality and stillness. The illustrators focused on minimalist iconography and muted tones, diverging from the more aggressive, action-heavy aesthetics typical of the era. Critics at the time praised the card for its clean design and the distinct weight it added to the game's flow, noting that its inclusion successfully shifted the tempo of matches without cluttering the play space with overly complex imagery.
