Where it came from
Valorous Stance was originally released in the Fate Reforged set in 2015, but this specific iteration comes from the 2022 Innistrad: Double Feature collection. This compilation was designed to celebrate the return to the gothic horror-themed plane of Innistrad, uniquely showcasing cards from both Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow sets in a distinctive monochromatic, silver-screen aesthetic.
The card features artwork by Johannes Voss, who captures a heroic moment of divine protection and decisive action. In the context of the game, the card is recognized for its utility as a flexible spell, allowing players to either protect a creature or destroy a large threat. The Double Feature treatment was intended to evoke the feel of classic horror cinema, providing a stylized, high-contrast look that has become a distinct sub-category for collectors interested in the intersection of game mechanics and thematic art direction.
