Where it came from
Valorous Stance was first printed as part of the Fate Reforged expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2015, later appearing in the Magic Origins Clash Pack. The card was designed as a modal spell, offering players a tactical choice between protecting a creature or removing a significant threat from the battlefield. This flexibility reflected the set's focus on defining moments and decisive actions within the game's narrative structure.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Johannes Voss, who utilized a dramatic, high-contrast aesthetic to evoke the sense of a pivotal heroic maneuver. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the competitive community for its versatility in white-aligned control and midrange decks, serving as a reliable utility tool that rewarded players for timing their interventions effectively.
