Where it came from
Valorous Stance was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander set in 2024. This collection was designed to integrate the aesthetic and narrative themes of the post-apocalyptic Fallout video game franchise into the established ruleset of Magic. The card features art by the illustrator Greg Staples, who was tasked with capturing the rugged, desperate, and heroic nature of the wasteland setting.
The card itself is a reprint of an effect originally featured in the Fate Reforged set, repurposed here to fit the Fallout thematic expansion. Within the gameplay context of the set, the card serves as a removal spell representing the decisive actions of wasteland survivors. It was generally well-received by players for its thematic consistency and its practical utility in Commander-style deck building, blending the gritty visual style of the series with the familiar mechanics of the game.
