Healing Salve

Healing Salve was originally introduced in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering in 1993 as part of a cycle of simple spells intended to introduce new players to the game's mechanics. The card was designed to be straightforward and functional, providing a small amount of life gain or damage prevention to stabilize a player during the early stages of a match. Over time, it became a staple of the 'White Weenie' archetype and remains one of the most recognizable early white spells in the game's history.

This specific iteration of the card appeared in the 2014 Duel Decks Anthology: Divine vs. Demonic, a collection designed to revisit and celebrate iconic head-to-head match-ups from the game's past. The artwork for this version was provided by the renowned fantasy artists Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. The brothers sought to depict the act of healing through a classic, high-fantasy lens that aligned with the 'Divine' theme of the deck, resulting in a piece that echoes the detailed, illustrative style the duo was famous for throughout their extensive careers.
