Zombie

The Zombie token from the Dominaria Remastered set was released in 2023 as part of a curated reprint set designed to celebrate the history of the Magic: The Gathering plane of Dominaria. These tokens serve as auxiliary game pieces used to represent creatures created by various spells and abilities within the game. The aesthetic of this specific iteration draws upon the long-established visual language of undead creatures within the franchise, emphasizing a decaying, gothic horror look consistent with the set's broader nostalgic themes.

The design of tokens in modern Magic sets is handled by the Wizards of the Coast internal creative team, focusing on clarity and artistic cohesion with the cards they accompany. The Dominaria Remastered tokens were intended to provide players with functional, updated art pieces that evoke the classic feel of cards from the early 1990s through the mid-2000s. While not credited to a single individual illustrator in the same manner as primary game cards, these tokens reflect the collaborative effort to maintain visual continuity across decades of game history.
