Saproling

The Saproling token, featured as collector number 11 in the Dominaria Remastered Tokens set, serves as a functional accompaniment to cards that generate Saproling creatures. These tokens are designed to represent the ephemeral, fungal-based life forms prevalent in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, specifically within the thematic context of Dominarian ecology. This particular iteration was created to provide a cohesive visual style for players utilizing reprints from the game's long-standing history of the plane of Dominaria.

The illustration for this token reflects the established aesthetic of contemporary Magic card design, focusing on clarity and atmospheric immersion. While token art is often functional, the creative team sought to ground the Saproling’s appearance in the established biology of the species, balancing the organic, plant-like features with the aggressive, creature-oriented design language expected by players. The card was well-received for its consistent frame and accessible art style, which integrates seamlessly into both limited and constructed formats.
