Where it came from
Birds of Paradise is one of the most iconic cards in Magic: The Gathering, first appearing in the game's inaugural Alpha set in 1993. As a low-cost creature that provides mana flexibility, it has served as a foundational element of green-aligned decks for over three decades. The card is celebrated for its utility and the elegant simplicity of its function, which allows players to accelerate their resource development early in a game.
The version from the Bloomburrow Commander set features reimagined art that aligns with the set's anthropomorphic woodland creature theme. While the game's mechanics have remained consistent for the card, the illustration commissioned for this release emphasizes the whimsical, storybook aesthetic characteristic of Bloomburrow. This release continues the tradition of reprinting essential legacy cards within thematic expansions to provide players with stylized options for their collections.
