Elephant

The Elephant token, numbered 22 in the Commander 2014 set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in November 2014. These tokens were designed to represent the 3/3 Elephant creature entities generated by specific cards within the Commander 2014 deck series, such as the card 'Rootborn Defenses' or various green-aligned spells that populate the battlefield with beasts. As with all tokens in this series, it served a functional gameplay purpose, providing players with a convenient physical marker to track their board state during multiplayer matches.

The artwork for this specific token was commissioned by Wizards of the Coast as part of their standardized efforts to create distinct, high-quality visual aids for their Commander product line. While individual token illustrators are rarely credited as prominently as main-set card artists, the design follows the established aesthetic of the era, emphasizing a sturdy, iconic depiction of the creature. Upon release, the token was well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community for its clear utility and consistency with the thematic art direction of the 2014 Commander decks.
