Provenance

Where it came from

The Bird token with collector number 1 from the Dominaria Remastered set was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This set was designed as a curated compilation, drawing from various past expansions set on the plane of Dominaria to celebrate its rich history within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The token itself is intended to represent the creature manifestations created by a wide variety of spells and abilities that appear throughout the set's gameplay.

The design of this specific token features artwork by Johannes Voss, whose work is highly regarded in the Magic community for its ethereal and atmospheric quality. Voss aimed to capture a sense of classic fantasy aesthetic that aligns with the nostalgic, archival nature of the Dominaria Remastered set. The piece was well-received for its clean, illustrative style, which successfully grounds the token within the broader visual language of the game's long-running history.
