Provenance

Where it came from

The Mountain card from the Secret Lair series, specifically collector number 891, was released as part of the specialized, direct-to-consumer print-on-demand drops by Wizards of the Coast. These cards were introduced to offer unique, often artist-driven aesthetic reinterpretations of classic Magic: The Gathering mechanics and lands, distancing themselves from the standard expansion sets found in retail stores.

The design of this specific card prioritizes an immersive, high-concept visual style that departs from the traditional landscape depictions of Mountains in the game. By commissioning distinct artistic signatures for the Secret Lair line, the company intended to provide players with premium, collectible versions of fundamental game elements that serve as functional art within a deck.
