Provenance

Where it came from

The Mountain card from the Secret Lair Drop series was released as part of a curated collection designed to celebrate specific artistic visions within the Magic: The Gathering universe. This particular iteration emerged from a drop series intended to provide players and collectors with premium, alternate-art versions of foundational game elements, moving away from traditional fantasy tropes toward more experimental or stylized aesthetics.

The design of this specific Mountain was crafted to evoke a distinct atmospheric mood, distancing the basic land from its standard depiction. It reflects the broader initiative of the Secret Lair program to collaborate with contemporary artists who reinterpret the game's iconic visual language. Upon its release, the card was noted by the collecting community for its departure from traditional land art, serving as both a functional game piece and a standalone artistic collectible.
