Mountain

The Mountain card from The Brothers' War, collector number 285, was released in November 2022 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set chronicling the conflict between brothers Urza and Mishra. This card features a distinctive full-art treatment designed to evoke the scale and mechanical aesthetic of the artificers' war. The visual language of the set draws heavily on retro-futurist tropes and industrial landscapes, aiming to contrast the lush, organic mana sources of the game's past with the scarred, machine-dominated terrain central to the set's narrative.

The art direction for this series of basic lands was handled by the Wizards of the Coast internal art team to maintain a cohesive look across the set. By stripping away traditional borders, the design creates a panoramic feel intended to immerse the player in the desolate, war-torn regions of Dominaria. It was generally well-received by the player base for its departure from traditional land layouts, reflecting a conscious effort to blend the game's deep lore with a high-concept, stylized visual presentation.
